Spring Activity Program for Young People in Hailsham (23/01/24)

A variety of activities have been planned, including dry-slope skiing, ski lessons and Ringo tobogganing at Knockhatch Ski Centre, indoor and outdoor activities at Knockhatch Adventure Park and ten-pin bowling at Freedom Leisure Centre, as well as LaserQuest at the David Lloyd Centre in Eastbourne, boxing classes courtesy of Fighting Fit Academy and pottery glazing sessions at Belle's Pottery Studio. .......

Winter Activities for the Friday Night Project (11/01/24)

The Friday Night Project (FNP) works in partnership with organisations such as Knockhatch, Hailsham Community College and Freedom Leisure to help create fun recreational activities for young people on Friday evenings and will continue to be a feature on their social events calendar during the winter and forthcoming spring months.......

Mayor Attends Pottery Glazing Christmas Workshop (11/12/23)

The Mayor of Hailsham attended a special Friday Night Project event at Belle's Pottery Studio recently, and helped young people decorate and glaze their own Christmas-themed pottery. The pottery decorating class was just one of a variety of activities for young people planned for the Friday Night Project during the run up to Christmas.......

Mayor Sponsors Halloween-Themed Pottery Glazing Class (27/10/23)

The Mayor attended a special Friday Night Project event at Belle's Pottery Studio recently, and helped young people decorate and glaze their own Halloween-themed pottery. The class, of which Mayor Cllr Paul part-sponsored from his mayoral allowance, was just one of a variety of activities organised for young people planned during the run up to Christmas.......

Next Round of FNP Activities in Hailsham (04/09/23)

A variety of activities have been planned for the Friday Night Project throughout the autumn months and run up to Christmas including 10-pin bowling, open ski, skiing lessons and ringo tobogganing and Halloween and Christmas-themed pottery glazing classes, in addition to pool, air hockey, pizza nights and much more!.......

Digital Newsletter Available for Parents (21/08/23)

HYS has launched a monthly newsletter for parents, devoted to providing information on the Service's range of projects, activities, support services and opportunities for young people. The newsletter also features photos of activities and other regular news updates, as well as information on how young people can participate in events and attend outings...

Summer Activities for Young People in Hailsham (19/06/23)

A variety of activities for young people have been planned for the Friday Night Project (FNP) for the remainder of June and throughout July including ten-pin bowling at FreedomBowl, and activities at Knockhatch Adventure Park, as well as swimming at Freedom Leisure Centre and a special Youth Night at the James West Community Centre....

HYS Working in Partnership With Community College (12/06/23)

A touchscreen interactive television has been donated to Hailsham Youth Service, which provides youth work, support services and opportunities for young people in the local area. Donated by Clevertouch Technologies, the television will be used to support Hailsham Youth Service's expansion - in particular, for educational and staff training purposes....

HYS Appoints New Deputy Manager (19/05/23)

HYS has appointed a new Deputy Manager. Looking forward to the challenging role and carrying over his extensive youth work experience to the young people of Hailsham, Joel said: "I am honoured to have been selected for this position and pleased that I have had so much support from fellow team members so early into my role...."  

HYS Receives Award for Service to the Community (11/05/23)

HYS has received an award from the High Sheriff's Office, given "in recognition of great and valuable services to the community". A framed certificate was presented to Service staff by the former High Sheriff of East Sussex, Mrs Jane King, at the Square Youth Cafe, along with a £250 grant award from the High Sheriff Fund at Sussex Community Foundation....

Hailsham Youth Service: Revised Opening Times (22/03/23)

Hailsham Youth Service continues to offer after-school and evening activity sessions for young people, although with a change in opening times which took effect from 1st April. Furthermore, the Service has organised a varied line-up of free activities over the next few months designed to encourage even more young people through the doors of the youth centres.........

HYS Seeks Deputy Youth Service Manager (25/02/23)

As part its commitment to putting young people at the heart of everything they do, Hailsham Youth Service is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Youth Service Manager to help with the expansion of local services for young people. The successful candidate will assist in the planning and design of the youth service's offering.........

Donation Received from Police Property Fund (11/01/23)

HYS has received yet another cash boost, this time a £500 donation from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), which will be used to fund the Service's arts, crafts and cookery activities over the coming months. "We are delighted to receive this cheque from the and extremely grateful to officials for generously supporting our youth projects and activities"........

Rescheduled Visit to Square Youth Cafe from High Sheriff (21/11/22)
The High Sheriff of East Sussex, Jane King, will make a special visit to the Square Youth Cafe on Tuesday 13th December (rescheduled from 27th October), to find out more about the activities and opportunities Hailsham Youth Service is providing, and acquire a good understanding of our plans for improving services even more in the future.........

High Sheriff Schedules Visit to Square Youth Cafe (23/09/22)
The High Sheriff of East Sussex, Jane King, will make a special visit to the Square Youth Cafe on 27th October, to find out more about the activities and opportunities Hailsham Youth Service is providing, the impact of this work on the local community and acquire a good understanding of our plans for improving services even more in the future.........
New Youth Shelter Facilities in Hailsham (15/08/22)
Following the request for new youth facility suggestions for the town and a successful grant application by Wealden District Council from the Government's Safer Streets scheme, two new youth shelters have been installed in Hailsham - on the Western Road Recreation Ground and at the skate park adjacent to the Maurice Thornton Playing Field.........
New Eastside Youth Hub to Introduce More Sessions (08/08/22)
Hailsham's newest youth club will be introducing additional sessions for young people from late September. Sessions are free to enter for local young people and offer activities such as table tennis, games, crafts, well-being and more, with light snacks and refreshments served. A programme of activities such as cookery and sports is also included.......
Donation Received from Community Matters Scheme (01/08/22)
Hailsham Youth Servicehas received yet another cash boost, this time a £325 donation from the Waitrose ‘Community Matters' scheme. The money received will be used to fund the Service's summer holiday activity program, in particular covering the cost of meals for young people at the Square Youth Cafe's afternoon sessions.........
Summer Activity Programme for Young People in Hailsham (11/07/22)
Young people in Hailsham can enjoy a wide range of activities throughout the summer holiday at the Swuare youth Cafe, designed to liven up the summer holidays and encourage even more people through the doors of the centre. Activities include taking cookery sessions where young people can learn how to prepare meal recipes........
New Youth Project Receives Lions Funding (27/06/22)
THailsham Youth Service has received a donation of £500, as part of the Hailsham Lions Club's package of support for the local community. The funding received will be used by Service towards the costs involved in their latest project, the establishment of ‘Girls' Night' sessions, which take place at the Square Youth Cafe on a regular basis........
New Eastside Youth Hub Opens Its Doors (19/05/22)
The continued expansion of Hailsham Youth Service's operations and opening of a satellite youth centre in the town, 'Eastside Youth Hub' based at the Hailsham East Community Centre in Vega Close, has been well received by the town's young people. Eastside runs sessions on Thursday evenings, operating all year round........
Graffiti Workshop Held at the Square Youth Cafe (13/04/22)
Hailsham Youth Service hosted a Graffiti Art Workshop at the Square Youth Cafe on 13th April today, in which young people benefited from a professional graffiti art class in a bid to give the youth centre a fresh makeover, as part of a scheme to promote and reward positive behaviour in the community.......
Olympian Archer Visits Monday Youth Hub (13/04/22)
An Olympic athlete and British Number One in archery visited Hailsham Youth Service's Monday Youth Hub ON 11 April to talk to and inspire young people - and teach them the art of archery. The visit by recurve archer Patrick Huston was part of the Know Knives project, which supports young people to make more positive choices when it comes to knife crime.........
PGL Activity Weekend a Success (04/04/22)
Young people from Hailsham enjoyed a range of recreational activities at the PGL Centre in Windmill Hill last weekend, with over 30 packing in as many activities as they could during their weekend stay - including climbing, challenge courses, raft-building, fencing, archery and various sports, as well as a quiz night and problem-solving/team-building skills........
HYS Installs Added Security at its Venues (21/03/22)
In a bid to help create a safer environment for young people and staff, HYS has installed a new security system - a 360 Search Pole - for use at youth events and its venues. The new 'device, which includes two wands is a high-tech, discrete and non-intrusive solution to assist with the identification of individuals carrying what could potentially be weapons........
More Youth Shelters to be Installed in Hailsham Soon (14/03/22)
Following the request for new youth facility suggestions for the town and a successful grant application from the Government's Safer Streets scheme, two new youth shelters will be installed in Hailsham in the coming weeks at two locations in the town - Western Road Recreation Ground and next to the Maurice Thornton skate park........
New Youth Club to Open in Hailsham Next Month (21/02/22)
A new youth club will open its doors next month, which will engage young people in Hailsham and the surrounding area. The proposal by Hailsham youth Service to further expand its operations and open a satellite youth centre in the town - Eastside Youth Hub - is undergoing more planning and will be based at the Hailsham East Community Centre in Vega Close......

Young People Invited to Take Part in Activity Weekend in 2022 (16/11/21)
AYoung people from Hailsham are invited to reserve their places for an Activity Weekend at the PGL Centre in Windmill Hill next spring. Scheduled to take place on 1st to 3rd April 2022, young people will be able to pack in many activities during their weekend stay at the centre, including climbing and raft-building, as well as problem-solving and team-building skills......

Hailsham Youth Service has organised a varied line-up of free activities designed to liven up the summer break and encourage even more young people through the doors of the Square Youth Cafe, Hellingly Youth Hub and Monday Youth Hub centres. For the Service team’s safety, the wearing of face coverings is still highly encouraged, although not mandatory.......
Reopening of The Square Youth Cafe and Hellingly Youth Hub (19/04/21)
Hailsham Youth Service is pleased to announce that it has reopened some of its centres from this week, in line with the latest guidance concerning coronavirus protection measures. HYS to Host Mental Health First Aid Training Course (19/04/21)
Hailsham Youth Service will be hosting a mental health first aid course at the end of April for its staff team, local police officers, schools and other local youth organisations. The course will help staff to use enhanced interpersonal skills and be able to spot the signs of mental health issues and feel confident to step in, reassure and support a young person in distress......
Hailsham Youth Service Active During Lockdown (01/02/21)
During the lockdown, young people can join in on discussions, take part in activities and keep in touch with the youth worker team via social media, including their Facebook and Instagram pages. Furthermore, the team continues to provide detached (outreach) youth work provision in specific areas identified as needing further support during the pandemic.......

Reopening of Square Youth Cafe in Hailsham (07/10/20)
Hailsham Town Council's youth centres will gradually start to open their doors again from 5 October with the reopening of the Square Youth Cafe in the town centre. Hailsham Youth Service had to close its centres and suspend all of its face to face activities in late March, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic..........
